What To Bring to Navy Boot Camp

Boot Camp is one of the first steps toward your Navy career, so it’s important to know what to pack. There’s a whole list of dos and don’ts, so here’s a breakdown of things you CAN bring. It’s appropriate to bring things that are important to you, such as a wedding ring or religious medallion, but they shouldn’t be bigger than the size of a dog tag. You can bring a wristwatch, writing material, pocket dictionary, small address book, prepaid phone card and a pocket Bible. It’s important to bring the toiletry items that make you feel comfortable, so be sure to pack your hairbrush, comb, sanitary items, prescription medication, and if you have a carry on, it must conform to TSA guidelines. You can bring personal identification items such as a Social Security card, photo ID, checkbook, a maximum of $50 and personal documents for dependents. For women who wear makeup, you can bring one of each of the following: face powder, blush, lipstick, eye shadow, mascara. These are ok for certain events. Hair barrettes are perfectly acceptable as long as they match your hair color. Do you wear glasses? If so, you can bring one pair of prescription glasses and reading glasses. It’s important to know that you are not allowed to wear contact lenses during recruit training. If you only wear contact lenses, military glasses will be issued during the first few days. For female recruits, DO NOT bring a swimsuit or any undergarments, these will be issued to you upon arrival. These guidelines are strict, so it’s important to follow them carefully. Any items brought to Boot Camp other than those mentioned will be boxed and sent home upon arrival. We hope this information makes packing easier and clear. • Another great thing to bring is the knowledge of the navy before you join and if possible knowledge of the rating you hope to get into. I am not yet in but by talking to people who have served honorably in the navy it has helped me prepare and plan for when I do sign that contract at the recruiters office. Research is key to seeing what job you want and whether or not the military is right for you.

  • lmao

  • but i can't swim lol

  • Basicly all you need is the clothes on your back and your wallet. Thats it.

  • you really dont need to bring anything -.- they give you everything on your first ditty bag issue.

  • dont bother with toiletries they will issue you all your shave stuff, i had to throw all of my stuff away at the airport.

  • who is fuckin animating these

  • Do they teach u how to swim?

  • they will teach you.

  • hope so cause I mean I really can't

  • seems right

  • life suck in a ship. it like doing time. it like living in a slave ship. the harder you work the more you get fucked. so youll have to learn to skate. hard work dont get you nowhere in a ship just learn to look busy.

  • im glad it worked for you cause my positive attitude turn to shit after the two years.

  • no they dont. they just make you jump off the platform.

  • the navy only promotes within there own race. so if your race isnt on top your fucked. blacks promote black and white promote whites. it like prison but only smile to your face. if your Asian, Hispanic or middle eastern dont be surprise if you hear races comment and it ok because your race dont matter. they wont do shit about it.

  • Going to the navy Tommorw

  • What exactly qualifies as writing materials?

  • Bra and underwear? Could you bring them?

  • I'm going in two months and I wanted to know what kind of blades and shaving cream do they offer, and how long do they give you to shave. I just want to avoid getting razor bumps, so I'm trying to get in the habit of shaving daily.

  • we got edge brand shaving cream and mach3 turbo razors but you get all of 10 minutes if you are prone to bumps and it looks bad you can try getting a "no shave" chit it might be hard to get in recruit training but at another command you can do it.

  • They issue Gillette Fusion Razors. And i think Edge Shaving cream.

  • Sir, thank you very much, you don't how hard it was trying to find that information.

  • i am considering joining once im old enough

  • no phone or electronic devices? are you allowed to bring any clothes? And what would i need money and Id's and all that for?

  • I am considering Joining either the Navy or Air Force, but I am leaning more towards Navy.

  • 206 videos?Time to grab some chips and make some coffee….

  • AWW MAN I WEAR CONTACTS T.T

  • Me too. I hate those dorky glasses 😐

  • Wait!! so i can bring my own eye glasses?? can i use them throughout boot camp? i don't want those big ugly ones they give you… lol

  • im sure you could

  • You will only be allowed to use your own personal glasses on certain occasions, like pics and graduation. Other than that, you have to wear the one's they issue you…they are not that bad, they have changed them, they are not as big anymore

  • That would be classic. They open up your pack to find a massive collection of only condoms.

  • The glasses they issue you are still hideous.

  • Why cant we wear contacts? Its better then glasses

  • funny. Don't ask. Don't tell.

  • Hi Devin,

  • Can I bring books I like to read at A and C school after boot camp? I like to read. 😁

  • For those leaving soon, you can pretty much bring anything…except phones and obvious stuff that you shouldn't bring. I'd recommend bringing your wallets, a few bucks cash, debit cards, address book (if you're bad at remembering stuff) and oh, bring a few small pictures if you want too. it'll help out in the long run

  • I have some Bibles at home that I use to study with more intensely. I have three in total. They are full sized from Old Testament to New Testament. I was wondering since this video says only a pocket Bible, after Boot camp am I allowed to have someone bring them to me or have them mailed to me?

  • can I bring a ipad
