The Silence of the Lambs (3/12) Movie CLIP – Fava Beans and a Nice Chianti (1991) HD

Oh, Agent Starling, you think you can dissect me
with this blunt, little tool? No. I thought that your knowledge … You’re so ambitious, aren’t you? You know what you look like to me … with your good bag
and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well-scrubbed, hustling rube
with a little taste. Good nutrition has given you
some length of bone, but you’re not more than one
generation from poor white trash, are you, Agent Starling? And that accent you’ve tried
so desperately to shed, pure West Virginia. What does your father do?
Is he a coal miner? Does he stink of the lamp? And, oh, how quickly
the boys found you. All those tedious, sticky fumblings
in the back seats of cars, while you could only dream
of getting out, getting anywhere, getting all the way to the FBI. You see a lot, Doctor. But are you strong enough to point
that high-powered perception at yourself? What about it? Why don’t you … Why don’t you look at yourself
and write down what you see? Maybe you’re afraid to. A census-taker
once tried to test me. I ate his liver
with some fava beans, and a nice Chianti. You fly back to school now,
little Starling. Fly, fly, fly.

  • Odin!!!!

  • Dr Lecter completely dismantled her without breaking a sweat or blinking his eyes not once.

  • Anthony Hopkins is absolutely amazing actor both as a villain and as the good guy.

  • Hopkins is a genius. Jodie Foster was afraid of him because he played it so damn good. What a great actor. Legend!

  • If any of you are planning on watch this masterpiece again try to notice this throughout the whole movie lecter never blinks 😨

  • Such a great actor

  • This scene shows that this sociopath exhibits the basis of his mindset, cruelty.

  • 75 people were subjected to tedious, sticky fondlings in the backseats of cars.

  • "Look at the funbags on that hose hound. " "I'd like to eat her liver with some fava beans and a glass of Chianti. Hshshsss. "

  • she's broken lol. what a noob

  • How have I not heard of this movie? I’m a horror fan and this was recommended to me after watching a lot Anthony Hopkins videos from transformers 😂😂😂

  • That is an awesome movie but scary

  • Love Anthony Hopkins xx

  • 1:35 so epic

  • Hopkins facial expressions are amazing, look at the way he controls his eyes and his blinking…

  • Love the way his eyes slightly widen @ 0:56

  • They said he never blinked during any of his scenes, but it is clear that he does.

  • That line is so completely Hopkins', and yet I can hear Mikkelsen saying it too

  • He took one look at that questionnaire and knew instantly it was bullshit lol

  • So… if he didnt throw his sperm on her, none of the movie wouldve happened cause hannibal wouldnt have called for her to come back?

  • I love when he says "you fly back to school now little starling.. fly fly fly" i don't know it's almost endearing

  • Miggs part is hilarious

  • This chick just got casted as Alpha in The Walking Dead it’s going to be crazy !!

  • Still watching in 2019
I so badly want to say:
    "Farmer's beans and a nice canteen" 😂
    Peace! ✌

  • Lector was such an iconic villain… yet he still falls short of being the best movie villain of all time.
    Why?
Because, no matter how iconic your villain is, he or she will never be better than Heath Ledger’s Joker.

  • Bullshit, you're meant to have Amarone with liver. Everyone who's in food knows that.

  • to find this video i just searched improv liver beans and it was the first one

  • the score, the acting of Hopkins and Foster, the editing, the camera work, the writing, Hokpins improv…my god just a masterpiece

  • 1:35, 1:36, 1:37, 1:38

  • The fact that he ate a liver doesn't scare me.
The fact that he takes pleasure describing how that dish was does.

  • Count how many times he blinks

  • My dad grew up where on the same street as he lived when he (Anthony Hopkins) was a boy

  • HISSSSSS

  • American Alarm

  • Grandissimo attore.

mike jody birds and the bees
    doug and eds new tree

  • Tried to test me… I ate his liver with some fafa beans

  • This part of this scene makes me want to eat some liver with fava beans.

  • Doctor Lecter… Doctor Lecter… Doctor Lecter… Doctor Lecter…

  • Truly an amazing performance of a sick serial killer. Absolutely incredible.

  • OG line from the book is "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a big amore". Doesn't have the same effect.

  • 1:35

  • That tired and stupid line…"I ate…" Feck off with your pretense of intellectual sophistication as a mute attempt to make the character interesting. God damn is Hopkins' 8 mins in this film VASTLY overrated and lauded.

  • I can smell your liver…….

  • I ate his fever with lava bills and a nice antique

  • 1:36 this noise alone will haunt me

  • The sequel Hannibak was ok, but if you think anything else is better, then you're both wrong and stupid. Nothing remotley gets close to this without being edgy and pure cheese.

  • Damn he's good !

  • overrated performance to me…De Niro should have won the oscar that year for Cape Fear!

  • There are moments of pure genius in acting, this is one of them, from both of these actors. Anthony Hopkin's performance is one of the most amazing pieces of acting one could ever witness. I can think of the time watching Jack Nicholson in 'The Shinning' as another glimpse of the virtuosity of this marvelous craft.

  • 0:38 Dr. Lecter mimicking Clarice's accent

  • Best scene in a movie ever

  • 1:35 When she asks "What that mouth do?"

  • HIS OWN INSIGHT OBSERVATIONS MAKES ME CONCLUDE HE IS AN ARIES…WHICH IS ANTHONY,S SIGN.

  • "you are not more than one generation from pure white trash" – hannibal lector. well that's deep.

  • Jack Crawford warned Clarice about Lecter getting inside her head

  • 0:04 When you’re a block of diamonds and Steve tries to mine you with a wooden pick axe

  • He is making fun of her accent, but she thrilled him with her acumen.

  • This reminds me of when Dr Evil describes his childhood in group therapy.

  • It just amazing to think that 13 minutes of screen play made him an oscar for the movie.

  • Lecter: "I ate his liver with some Fava beans and a nice Chianti"

Tommy Wiseau: "Ha ha, funny story Mark!"

  • Manhunter was a solid movie as well, it started this saga off back in 1986 with Tom Noonan as Dollarhyde and Brian Cox as Lector. It was the original red dragon film and it was great!

  • Why she limping at the end of the vid

  • I love Jodie Foster

  • I got a chance to work for onstar for 2 years as a customer service representative. I got a chance to talk to 2 celebrities, sandra bullock and sir anthony hopkins. I was so nervous when i was talking to him but his voice is so calm like it's just a casual conversation. When I'm done helping him he asked me what he can do in return. I told him it's not necessary but he insisted, so i ask him if he can do this scene just the dialogue for the census guy. He did and it gave me goosebumps. Unforgettable moment.

  • The stare does it all.

I remember the first time I saw this scene as a child.

That inhaling hiss made me shutter and look away from the screen.

  • Dr. Lecter wasn't the villain in the film.

  • I bet she doesn't wear cheap shoes anymore lest she be called a "rube"

  • There is so much brilliant cinematography going on here to make this scene so unsettling. First off, the camera angle is often close up on Hopkins, making him seem much more intimately dangerous. You might also notice that Hopkins rarely blinks throughout the conversation and keeps his head tilted down, which is a gesture subconsciously viewed as threatening. Most especially, Foster often looks just slightly away from the camera, but Hopkins often stares directly into the camera, and by extension the viewer. It's a "perfect storm" designed to overwhelm the senses and give the viewer the feeling of being prey trapped under a predator's watchful eye – and it works delightfully.

  • murderous Sherlock Holmes

  • Hannibal would have made a great Drag Queen considering his flawless reading skills 😂

  • Anthony Hopkins’ performance as Lector is literally the peak of acting. What’s a shame is that Jodie Foster’s performance is absolutely fantastic as well, but it’s often overlooked in the shadow of Hopkins.

  • Intimidation at its best

  • Far cry from his character in The Elephant Man. Dr Treeves.

  • “What does your father do is he a coal miner does he stink of the lamp” I love how his voice is almost mocking

  • The best part is when the prisoners flings his
Gentile juice on her face 🥰.

    Ms West Virgin-iass

This movie is full of hidden Gems

  • Honestly I don't think Hannibal believed the very words he said, he was just bored and seeing if he could annoy Clarice into being discourteous.

  • Damn he roasted her good lol

  • TORRANCE,IS AN ALIEN,I FOUND,ON HIRONDALE,AND CHRESTMONT ST,IN1984.HE IS THE BEAST,WITH,SEVEN HEADS,AND TEN HORNS.RECIEVE MY NEW INF METAPHYSICALLY,IN JESUS CHRIST NAME,AMEN.
