ROYAL FAMILY: Meghan Markle’s Moroccan shoes: Royal picks up Zyne babouche slippers

Meghan Markle’s Moroccan shoes: Royal picks
up Zyne babouche slippers. If you want to follow in Meghan Markle’s footsteps,
you better be quick. The Duchess of Sussex, who visited Morocco
earlier this week on an official three-day trip with husband Prince Harry, snapped up
two pairs of shoes from a trend-setting local label during her time in the North African
country. On day two of the royal couple’s visit, the
pregnant duchess was taken to the Andalusian Gardens in the capital of Rabat, where local
artisans were showcasing their wares. Among the brands on offer was Zyne, a Moroccan
label that specialises in luxury footwear inspired by the nation’s traditional babouche
slipper. Founded in 2016 by Zineb Britel and Laura
Pujol, the label is stocked at high-end retailers and e-tailers such as Moda Operandi and Level
Shoes. Zyne’s collections include hand-embellished,
beaded slip-on mules, satin and crystal-adorned kitten heels and rustic raffia sandals, putting
a glamorous, ultra-modern spin on classic silhouettes. During the visit, the Duke and Duchess of
Sussex met with Britel and Pujol, where the couple learned more about the handmade designs,
and how Zyne works with local craftspeople in Morocco. It was a privilege to be able to present
our vision to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It was such an honour to be in front of them
to introduce how we work with our women and highlight their work, Pujol told Footwear
News. They loved the designs and the fact that
we work with women in underserved communities The meeting has of course affected our
brand and business awareness in a very positive way, and we cant wait to see what is to
follow. The duchess, who is expecting her first child
in April, picked out two designs to take home: a navy flat mule, finished with gold beading,
which retails for $520 (Dh1,910), and a woven raffia kitten heel, according to the Evening
Standard. While Meghan is not expected to make many
– if any – more official engagements before the birth, when she does, we’ll be keeping
an eye on her shoes to see when she brings a little of touch Morocco to her ensemble.
