Making a Ballet Slippers Cake : Using a Spatula to Frost Ballet Cakes


If you’re not using a pastry bag, you can
simply frost this inside section with a small spatula. Just take the frosting and spread
it in there with a small spatula, being careful not to mix the white with the pink. And, don’t
worry so much about the edge. Because, we’re going to cover that with some candies and
you won’t see the seam. You want to mostly make sure you just get the right shape and
don’t mix that frosting. If the frosting does become mixed, you just wipe off your knife
and get some clean frosting and go over it. So, in this way you can make the same cake
without using a pastry bag. Here, I got a little pink here. I’m just going to pull that
off and smooth that over. When you’re finished with all the frosting, we’re going to set
our cake aside for a half an hour at least a half an hour to dry a bit. And, then I’ll
show you how to make sort of a cloth texture on our frosting.
