Ian Knot vs ZeroTie shoes – Professor Shoelace

G’day everyone, Ian Fieggen here, also known as “Professor Shoelace”. Today’s video, I’ll be comparing my “Ian Knot”, the world’s fastest shoelace knot, against these new “ZeroTie” shoes. Now, I was told that these were “hands free shoes” and … that they didn’t need any lacing or tying. Well, I asked the folks from ZeroTie to send me a pair so I could do a head-to-head comparison. They were kind enough to oblige, so let’s see how they perform. I’ll just zoom down on my feet here and … I’ll show you how I’ve been tying for the past fifty-odd years is putting your foot into a shoe, tightening it up, tying the “Starting Knot”, and for the past thirty-odd years, I’ve been tying my “Ian Knot”, the world’s fastest shoelace knot. Pretty quick, right? Now the ZeroTie shoes on the other hand – – completely hands-free, slip your foot in, [zzzzzzzip] [zzzzzzzip]
run the heel backwards along the ground and you can hear that mechanism tightening up. It’s got a little wheel at the back there and as you run it backwards it … tightens up this lacing that goes through these sort of “quick-tight” guides. To undo it, you step on this little lever at the back there with your other foot and your foot just simply pops out. “Ian Knot”, on the other hand, to untie it you just pull the loose ends and … loosen the lacing. But now if I … want to compare apples with apples and just compare the Ian Knot – – so here we go – ready – set – go – – and that’s pretty quick! The ZeroTie, if I go – ready – set – go – [zzzzzzzip] [zzzzzzzip] – that’s also pretty quick, so I’m pretty impressed as you can tell. Obviously these would be great for anyone that has a disability or finds it hard to bend down and tie their shoes or just want a performance [enhan–] advantage or hey, look, just simply someone who doesn’t like tying their shoelaces – – that would be the way to go. So, if you want more information about these, you can go to the ZeroTie website zerotie.com or if you want more information about my “Ian Knot” or different lacing methods for performance or style or what-have-you, you can go to Ian’s Shoelace Site: www.fieggen.com/shoelace

  • nice

  • Zerotie shoes is not for Russian mud. Traditional knots is better!!!

  • Hi Ian

  • why no socks?

  • I really like the idea of the shoe. But the shoe is pretty ugly. Do they have different shoes

  • I like the Idea about the zerotie but if you were to where those at school people would like to mess around with you by hitting the lever thing.

  • Please do Mega Ian Knot tutorial video, I have followed the tutroial, but I cannot figure it out.

  • crusty feet

  • look at the jordans

  • Awesome!!!!

  • More things to break, added bulk, no cuztomization. Yeah no I'll just stick to laces or ulace

  • please give me a shout-out

  • Pity Zero Tie won’t ship to the UK!

  • If you are paralysed from the waist down, the Ian Knot is more hassle-free. Imagine bending down to wind the lever. Anyway, I'd imagine Velcro or slip-ons would be the more ideal choices in such situations!
