How to Quick Tight Lace your shoes – Professor Shoelace

G’day everyone, Ian Fieggen here, also known as “Professor Shoelace”. Today’s video is about Quick Tight Lacing. Now this is a lacing for tall boots, and it’s a split-section, straight method in which the lower section is tightened by pulling one loose end and the upper section is tightened by pulling the other loose end. So, pulling both ends at the same time should actually tighten the whole boot rather more quickly. That’s the theory, let’s have a look at how it’s laced. I’ve got us set up here on my Ian’s Shoelace Site, which, if I animate, you’ll see the two sections clearly. There’s the upper blue zig-zagging through the top four eyelets and the lower yellow zig-zagging through the bottom four eyelets. Now, let’s look at that on a real shoe. I’ve got us already set up with the lace running straight across the bottom eyelets and in through both eyelets. Now we take one end and this time we run diagonally up the inside and out through the eyelet that’s just above the middle, so that’s going to be the lower section and that will be the upper section. Now this upper section we just simply zig-zag through the eyelets. So we go straight across the outside, diagonally up the inside. Straight across the outside, diagonally up the inside, and out through the top eyelet. Now the other end we do the same through the bottom. We go diagonally up the inside, straight across on the outside. Diagonally up the inside, straight across on the outside. Finally, we feed through the middle so that we can neatly come diagonally up the inside and out through the top eyelet. So, pulling this loose end should tighten the top section and pulling the other loose end should tighten the bottom section. And at the top you can tie it off with your favourite knot. I’m using my “Ian Knot”, the world’s fastest shoelace knot. And that’s it, that’s Quick Tight Lacing. Hope you enjoyed it!
