Fifty Shades of Slippers (Turkish Culture)

hello ladies gentlemen and the cute rainbow in-between before I get started to my video I would like to thank you all for your beautiful comments and ideas because for my first video all I wanted to do was talking about my culture and have a little fun when I do it because you know I’m not some professor who talks about some documents you know Turkish language comes from that Turkish history comes from that instead I just talk about my life and the Turkish culture I live with and it’s really exciting I’m so excited at the moment too and I’m writing down every single comment you made about me for my next videos and you can be sure I will publish them shoot them and publish them very very soon and today we will talk more about Turkish culture like our lives in the home when I’m talking about the home maybe some of you realized when you came to Turkey or if you whizzed it if you have visited and some of your friends you realize that we leave our shoes after shoes and a door before we go into the house well that’s the culture we do this in every home and we leave our outdoor shoes outside because our moms and family are you know just because it’s also because we sometimes eat on the floor we have a lower table than the normal tables and we sit down the floor and we eat our meal some of the Turkish families eat I remove it their meals on that and maybe completely on the floor sometimes so that’s why the floor needs to be so clean that we can sit so the kids can play and instead of shoes in the house we have something else which is slippers or flip-flops whatever you call them and as you can see from the headline of this video we have too many kinds of slippers and today in this video i will explain three of them and one is an indoor slipper indoor slipper that that ones maybe you are using them in your houses too and they’re fluffy more comfortable like this one’s fluffy comfortable and for just the indoor you do you can just walk around with these in your room and the living room the kitchen but you can’t go to the bathroom with that yeah our families would be so mad because we have a special bathroom slippers which are well maybe mine are the ugliest one you can ever find in Turkey but you know like these these are from a material which can get wet and get dry easily so it doesn’t smell or you know look in a bad way no matter how wet it gets and yeah we use these in toilets or bathrooms we have separate slippers for for them and also we have the balcony slippers the balcony slippers if you have a balcony in your in your house you use those in the balcony because the balcony gets so dust dusty when it comes to win and when it rains if especially if it’s open on the top like some of the houses in Turkey have in here and for those I I have an example to and maybe these aren’t the most pretty balcony slippers ever but yeah these are the balcony slippers an example for the balcony slippers yeah we use slippers in our houses to prevent dust or getting the floors dirty slippers for another area and it’s all for now from Turkish culture and see you on my next video and before I say goodbye I would like to tell you that every Wednesday I will share a new video and I hope you will like it and if you want to see me more in the YouTube you can give this video a thumbs up or subscribe me or make comments because I love your ideas I really love you guys ideas way very much see you on my next video bye

  • İzlemeden beğendim 🙂

  • So happy u uploaded:)

  • What a nice video!and i wonder ur ideas

  • Have you watched a Turkish drama called lovebird ? If not I really recommend you to watch it. Even though I watched it with subtitles on Netflix I really loved it,but I'm sure it will have a completely different flavour if Turkish is your own language.

  • Başlığı görünce annelerimizin sinirlenince terlik fırlattığını anlatacaksın zannettim 😀

  • Ablacım sen nerelerdeydin? Where were you my sister!

  • Loved the headline😂 keep it up we'd like to see more😍

  • 👌

  • Love you from turkey ❤️🇹🇷 are you from turkey

  • I love Turkey ı think it is very beautiful

  • love your videos Lara, keep up the good work

  • I liked the video. This video brought me some old memories from my childhood wich my grandma was angry and yelling at me cause I was using the wrong slippers. Golden days even my buttcheeks hurt nowadays from then when my grandma's spanked me :))))

Keep it up Lara, I am very excited for your next videos!!

  • how could you really good in English 😁 I love your accent though

  • ilk videondan beri takipteyim. 😊😊🤗😇

  • You are so pretty:). Question: Do most Turkish people fast on Ramadan? Second question: Is wrestling with oil your favorite sport? Third question: Who are your favorite Turkish singers? Thank you!

  • I want to add 4th type of slippers maybe your audience want to hear that which are flying-slippers. Sounds diffirent right but explain in coming seconds, generally our traditional mother use this. Which type it is not important here, it can be balcony or bathroom or indoor, the important think is which one closest to her and how far you. If she really mad at you,if you have turkish mom no question you be shoot with that slipper by she, and generally our mothers succesful for aim. If you lucky enough you can be miss a target few shot, good luck 🙂

  • özgüvenine hayranım

  • 23 senelik hayatımda hiç farketmediğim bir konuyu ele almışsın tebrik ediyorum 😃 videolarinin devamini bekliyoruz. başarılar

  • Hangi üniversiteye gidiyorsun bölümün ne

  • İngilizce aksanını nasıl bu kadar geliştirdin?

  • Merhaba! I really like your videos and i can't wait for your next video on Wednesday! I really appreciate if you can make a video, tell us what are the festivals/celebration celebrated in Turkey (maybe like Eid Mubarak, etc) and what do Turkish people do during the festivals/celebration? You can also share some photos during the festivals/celebration. It just an idea, and i hope you keep on sharing and posting more videos about Turkish culture and lifestyle. Tesekkur ederim, iyi gunler!

  • Hahahah, fifty shades of slippers…… supersin, devam!!

  • Harika gidiyorsun devam et!

  • İngilizce anlatım çok iyi oldu. Bazı yanlış bilinenler ve merak edilenler güzel anlatılmış. Çok emek verildiği belli. Elinize sağlık, terlikler efsane 🙂

  • Nerde oturyon kiz? Baya guzelsin ha ;p

  • 50 Shades of Slippers. Thank you for sharing this part of your Turkish culture Lara. I visited Japan many years ago and had once been friends with a Korean family. Both the Japanese and Korean cultures have the same custom of removing shoes before entering a home, to keep outside dirt and bacteria out of the home. Many Asian cultures have this same custom. Turkey has a combination of Asian and European cultures. By my count, you have made 3 YouTube videos so far, including this one. I look forward to learning more about Turkish culture.

  • I'm American. Chinese-American. My family has always taken our shoes off before stepping into a house. Some people think it's a religious or cultural thing, my parents and grandparents agree that it's a hygiene issue. I never understood people who walk or even sit in their beds with shoes on. These are the same shoes you go to a public restroom with! American ads and commercials often shoes the typical happy family with kids and babies crawling the the carpet and everyone has their shoes on. Lastly. I had a housemate that got used to taking off her shoe but just didn't understand the hygiene aspect. One day she walked out barefoot and I freaked out when she came in and walk right into the living room. She literally said "I don't see the problem. I didn't have shoes on" I told her to look at her foot which was black and she still didn't understand

  • Actually there was a 4. type for slippers
    Used by mothers
    İt's a guided slipper
Turkish mothers can launch that from a kitchen and you have no escape

  • ışıklandırmayı biraz düzeltebilirsin yüzüne çok vuruyor bi dost tavsiyesi 🙂

  • cok guzeldi,özellikle alt yazili olmasi muhtesem olmus

  • which university do you study in?

  • Thanks for the video and the knowledge you shared , and keep it up!
    Dubai'dan Selamlar

  • In Russian culture, slippers are also common. But for another reason. Because of dusty, muddy roads. If you don't remove your shoes you must constantly wash the floor. Sad but true.

Greetings from Russia. You are very sweet girl.

  • Heheihihaha😂😂😂 we get lessons in slippers. Very nice.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.

  • Anlıyorum ama konuşamıyorum çok güzel Videolar 😁

  • i am curious to know that how turkish people greet elders repectfully..

  • 1:13 but somebody could rob your'e shoes since they are outside.

  • i am greek and my gf is turkish❤

  • If tehre is a country which make me very curious , its Turkey .
Turkish seems to have a wide culture , whether is it literary , architectural or gastronomic . and your language sounds guzel too .
Thanks to share that with us 🙂 Enought compliments for now Bye

  • You should make a video talking about what you think of other countries and comparing Turkish culture to them

  • Hello.
    Can you teach Turkish language?

  • Hey!! Since I saw feriha I fell in love with Turkish culture and also became curious to know more about Turkey. I'm an Indian I see loads of similarities between Indians and Turkish culture .Also how the way we Indians and Turkish people think, probably that's the reason why i totally wanna visit turkey .Love your videos.

  • Hey, Lara I am from India. I have liked your videos a lot. I found alots of similarity in the cultures of India & Turkey, like in this video you have said. We too have different slippers for different purposes. and also at last of the videos you greeted by linking your hands. We too do so by saying "namaskar".

  • please make a video on turkish scarfs and hijabs and abayas and best cheap markets which are more affordable then the grand bazar and some mega malls and other shoping attracions for the tourists and as well as food speciality.

  • Senden hosliyorum

  • Your face is overexposed, please correct that in your next videos 🙂 it's very disturbing.

  • Genel olarak videolarinizi güzel buluyordum taki şimdi şunu duyuncaya kadar : "Cute rainbow in between" ? 🤣🤣 😂🤣😂 hadi ama , sapkınlık haline gelmiş bu hastalığı muhatap almanız , yaygınlaşmasına katkıda bulunmanız hiç hoş değil…. abone sayınızın artması içinse buna ihtiyacınız yok sanırım üslubunuz , seçtiğiniz konular dile hakimiyetiniz bunun için yeterli olacaktır..

  • You are a big Lier….stop I know you Turkish people very very well….you fool everybody takes of their shoes to go in to their house….you shit we all do this not only damn you…you fool who the hell goes to the bath room with your house slippers you dumb ass…its done around the world in everybody's house…how can you call this Turkish culture.. You fool this is a normal life style in everybody's. Home ..go to your own slum Antakya in Turkey and see your damn country for yourself… You evil wicked filthy soul people that's what you people are….your people go to the middle east and Europe and rob people…. Your men are married and sleeps with all prostitutes out side Turkey do you know that.. you Turkish people are sick pervets ..get a real life….

  • it's your eyes that hypnotize me.

  • Hey

  • Lots of love from Slovakia. A country of slippers number 2. I can´t even put one leg up when sitting on a chair without taking that one slipper off, my mom sees everything 😅I think its way too extreme but on another hand, when I watch american series or movies and people walk around their house with boots and heels and even going to bed and kids jumping around the sofa with their shoes on, I realize, how slovak I am when I cringe and get unconfortable thinking about all the dust and bacteria facepalm

  • I'm from Iraq, and I believe our cultures are more similar than any other two. We do the same thing with the shoes.
